System Improvement Efforts in Idaho
Deeply engaged in collaborative efforts to strengthen the state’s child welfare system. He partnered with the Idaho Department of Health & Welfare, the Supreme Court, Child Protection Court Improvement, Idaho Tribal Social Services, and local universities focused on training social workers. Additionally, Mike worked closely with various providers and non-profit organizations associated with child welfare. His commitment to
advocacy is reflected in his role as a founding Board member of Idaho Voices for Children.

Transition to Strategic Consulting
In June 2015, Mike transitioned to a full-time Strategic Consulting role within Casey Family Programs’ System Improvement Department. His primary assignments took him to Minnesota and Utah, but his expertise was sought by numerous states on a variety of initiatives. Mike’s work encompassed policy and practice development, implementation strategies, maximizing access to federal child welfare funding, Child Welfare Court
Improvement, strategic planning, leadership development, team building, and the growth of non-profit organizations and partnerships. He also provided guidance to multiple Tribes in Minnesota, assisting them with refining their child welfare service delivery models.
